Therapy in pregnancy and after birth

For people who are pregnant, have a new baby, or have lost a pregnancy or a baby.

You meet with Aurora or Johana for fifty minutes, in the office on Park Street or by video, in Spanish, English or both. You talk about what is on your mind: the pregnancy, the birth, sleep, the baby, your body, your family, work. Some sessions are mostly listening, and some are practical: how to ask for help, how to plan a night.

How it works

  • The method

Talk therapy, with cognitive behavioral and interpersonal approaches. Aurora and Johana hold the PMH-C, a perinatal mental health certification from Postpartum Support International.

  • What this is not

Therapy is not medical care and not an emergency service. We do not prescribe medication. With your permission we work alongside your midwife, obstetrician or pediatrician.

  • How long and how often

Fifty minutes, usually every week to start. Your clinician sets the pace with you, and there is no set number of sessions.

  • How it is paid

You pay for each session yourself, and we give you a receipt for your plan. The fee is given to you in writing before you start.

Questions about this service

Can I come while I am pregnant?

Yes. Many people start in pregnancy, and others only after the baby is born. There is no wrong time.

Do I need a diagnosis or a referral?

No. You can write to us as you are, and we will suggest where to start.

Can my partner come?

Yes, for a session or part of one, if you ask. Partners also have their own sessions with Rodney.

Ready to start?

Write to us, in Spanish or English, and we will suggest who to start with.
