Questions

Questions

The questions we are asked most, before a first session.

Do you take my insurance?

Cradle is out of network with insurance plans, so you pay for each session yourself, and we give you a receipt you can send to your plan. We do not bill Medicaid or Medicare. If you want a clinician who bills your plan, we will give you the names of colleagues.

What is a superbill, and how do I use it?

Each month we give you an itemized receipt with the dates and kind of session. You send it to your plan, which may reimburse part of out-of-network care. It carries a diagnosis code your insurer can see. Your plan decides whether it pays anything, so ask it before you start.

What is a Good Faith Estimate?

If you pay without insurance, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of what your care will cost before you start. If a bill is $400 or more above the estimate, you can dispute it. The estimate is not a contract: you can change your mind at any time. Ask us for one when you write to us.

How much does it cost, and how do fees work?

The fee depends on the kind of session and how long it runs. We give it to you in writing before you start, so you know it before the first session. A limited number of reduced-fee spots are open; ask how to request one.

Can I use an HSA or FSA card?

Yes. You can pay by card at the end of each session, including HSA and FSA cards.

What happens in the first session?

You and your clinician talk about what brings the two of you into the room: how you are sleeping, how the pregnancy or the baby is going, who helps you at home. You decide at the end whether you want to continue. You do not need to bring anything.

How often do we meet, and for how long?

Individual and partner sessions are 50 minutes, usually every week to start. Your clinician sets the pace with you and changes it as your days change. There is no set number of sessions.

Are you licensed where I live?

Our clinicians are licensed in Connecticut. For video sessions you need to be in Connecticut during the session. If you live somewhere else, we will help you find a clinician licensed there.

What do I do in a crisis?

Call or text 988, any time. If you are pregnant or have a new baby, you can also call or text the National Maternal Mental Health Hotline at 1-833-852-6262, in English or Spanish. In an emergency, call 911. We do not monitor messages around the clock, so do not wait for us to answer.

What is confidential, and what are the limits?

What you tell us stays between you and your clinician, and we keep your records private and share them only as the law allows. The exceptions are plain: if someone is in danger, if a child may be harmed, or if a court orders it. We explain this in the first session.

Can I bring my baby?

Yes. Babies in arms are welcome in the office, in individual sessions and in the parent circle. By video, you can hold your baby or feed them while we talk.

What is your cancellation policy?

We ask for 24 hours' notice to change an appointment. We know that babies and birth dates do not keep a schedule: tell us what happened and we will find another time.

A question we did not answer?

Write to us, in Spanish or English.
